Description:
A family trip is, above all, a collection of shared stories. We have designed this itinerary balancing the curiosity of children with the peace of mind that parents need, creating a tour where adventure and relaxation coexist naturally.
On this trip, the islands become a stage for living learning. The message is simple: nature is our common home.
From the first encounter with a sea lion to the hike on the lava of a volcano, the tour seeks to ensure that each member of the family connects with the environment in a genuine way, enjoying each place with complete freedom and with the security of having every detail organized.
Itinerary:
Your arrival in San Cristobal is the prologue to this unforgettable adventure designed to be remembered. After a local lunch, we head to La Lobería, a beach near the port that owes its name to the noisy and charming colony of sea lions that inhabit it. This corner of serene and shallow waters is, a “natural pool”; the ideal setting for children to have their first contact with the ocean and gain confidence with the snorkeling equipment.
Here they will discover that sea lions and turtles are curious hosts who are not afraid of visitors. It is an afternoon designed to dispel the fatigue of the trip and immerse yourself, literally, in the leisurely rhythm of the islands. At sunset, the night is yours to stroll along the boardwalk and choose, among the options in the port, your first dinner in front of the sea.
Activities: hiking, beach, wildlife observation, snorkeling
Highlights: San Cristobal, La Lobería,
Today the ocean offers us two paths. Depending on the age of your children and their spirit of exploration, you can choose the story you prefer to live:
Option 1 Isla Lobos and Playa Ochoa: Just 30 minutes by boat, Isla Lobos is a sanctuary where wildlife feels within reach. It is an ideal tour for families who enjoy observing the behavior of birds: here, the famous blue-footed boobies and frigates nest a few meters from the path. After a snorkeling session surrounded by playful sea lion pups, we will end the day on the white sand of Playa Ochoa, a space of total freedom for children to play on the shore while you enjoy the scenery.
Option 2 León dormido: For families with older children or experienced swimmers. This excursion heads towards the majestic Kicker Rock, an imposing rock in the middle of the sea. When swimming through its canal, you can observe the silent parade of Galapagos sharks, rays, fish and turtles; a spectacle that will leave you speechless. To balance the adrenaline, we will close the day resting on a white sand beach before sailing back to port.
Activities: hiking, beach, wildlife observation, snorkeling.
Highlights: León dormido, Isla Lobos, Playa Ochoa.
We will spend the morning in a unique place and outside the conventional tourist routes: the Hacienda Tranquila. An organic farming and reforestation project. Here, children will understand where what we eat comes from and the importance of giving back to the land what it gives us.
We close the day in Puerto Chino, a hidden beach that invites relaxation and spontaneous play before changing islands tomorrow.
Activities: hiking, organic farming and reforestation, beach, wildlife observation
Highlights: Hacienda tranquila, Puerto Chino.
The adventure begins very early in the morning. We will board a small plane for a short 45-minute flight to Isabela Island. Seeing the archipelago from the air is an experience that usually leaves children glued to the window, offering a unique perspective of the paradise they inhabit.
After settling in, you will have the morning free. A few steps away you will find the Flamingo lagoon and the main beach, where marine iguanas seem to be the owners of the road. In the afternoon, the exploration continues and you can choose between:
Option 1 Silent Exploration by Kayak or Paddle: An almost magical way to discover the bay. By gliding without engines, we can observe sea lions and rays in their most natural state, closing the afternoon with a dip in the Concha de Perla lagoon.
Option 2 Adventure on the Tintoreras Islet: A short boat trip takes us to this islet where life seems to spring from the rocks. You will see marine iguanas and, with a little luck, sharks resting in crystal clear water channels visible from the surface.
To end the day, we recommend finding a corner on the beach to contemplate the sunset in front of the sea.
Activities: hiking, plane transfer, beach, observation of volcanic landscapes, snorkeling
Highlights: the Flamingo lagoon, Concha de Perla lagoon, Tintoreras Islet.
Today the clock stops. Isabela is, possibly, the most welcoming corner of the archipelago to enjoy as a family without haste. This day is yours to live it according to what your body asks you.
You can simply relax under the sun and spend a classic beach day, or if you prefer a little more movement, rent bicycles to explore the Humedales trail. It is also an excellent time to walk to the flamingo lagoon or return to swim to the quiet Concha de Perla. All these places are easily accessible and are very close to your hotel, allowing you to enjoy nature with total autonomy.
Activities: hiking, beach, cycling, wildlife observation, snorkeling
Highlights: Humedales Trail, Concha de Perla lagoon, the Flamingo lagoon,
We will head towards the upper part to walk towards the Sulfur Mines in the Sierra Negra volcano. Unlike the long routes, this path is ideal for families: it allows you to closely observe the impressive crater and feel the energy of the earth in the sulfur fumaroles. It is a lesson in live volcanology that usually fascinates the little ones with its surreal colors and textures.
After a lunch on a local farm, we will change the terrestrial landscape for the marine one. In the afternoon, we will cross by boat to Santa Cruz Island. Upon arrival, you will feel the energy of the most vibrant island in the archipelago. We recommend closing the day with a walk along the pier: it is a unique night show where you can observe young sharks and rays swimming under the lights of the port.
Activities: hiking, beach, cycling, wildlife observation, snorkeling
Highlights: Isabela Island, Sulfur Mines, Sierra Negra Volcano, Santa Cruz
Today you will meet the most famous residents of the archipelago. We will go to a ranch in the highlands of the island to observe the giant tortoises in their natural state. Walking a few meters from these millenary beings is an experience that imposes respect and amazement, reminding us of the value of time and conservation.
After lunch, the afternoon is yours to discover Tortuga Bay. If you are traveling with children over 8 years old, the walk through a forest of endemic cacti that culminates in one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. If your children are younger, we suggest you visit Playa de la Estación or Playa de los Alemanes, places much closer and with very calm waters, ideal for children to play without worries.
