Description:
Most trips to Galapagos are lived against the clock. Our proposal chooses the opposite path: inhabiting time. We have designed this eight-day itinerary for those seeking depth rather than speed.
It is a balance that combines the security of expert guidance with moments of freedom to read by the sea, walk on the beach, or simply observe the wildlife without any rush. While it is a tour designed for all ages, it is especially preferred by people over 55 who value the combination of comfort and autonomy.
This is a trip that has been specially curated by our team, where the logistics adapt to your pace and the adventure is lived with the serenity of knowing that there is still much to discover.
Itinerary:
Upon arrival, the trip begins with context. We will visit the Interpretation Center to understand the formation and future of the islands before seeing them. Then, we will walk to the Tijeretas viewpoint for a first panoramic view of the archipelago. We end the afternoon in La Lobería, a site with calm, shallow waters, ideal for a first close encounter with turtles and sea lions. The rest of the afternoon is yours to start feeling the pulse of the port.
Activities: hiking, beach, wildlife watching, island natural history museum
Highlights: San Cristóbal, Interpretation Center, La Lobería, Tijeretas.
This day the archipelago opens in two possibilities, allowing you to decide how you want to interact with the sea. There is no right choice, only the one that resonates best with you:
- Option 1 – Isla Lobos: This small islet is a haven of peace. It is the ideal setting for those who prefer a gentle walk among colonies of blue-footed boobies and marine iguanas. The snorkeling here is calm, allowing you to observe the curiosity of the sea lions in a protected environment. It is a day of close observation and leisurely pace. This tour includes a visit to Playa Ochoa.
- Option 2 – León Dormido: For those looking for a greater swimming challenge in the open sea in front of one of the most iconic rock formations in the world. It is an underwater exploration experience in the open sea where you can observe sharks, rays, and turtles. It requires greater skill in the water but offers a cinematic perspective of ocean life.
Both options return to port in time for you to enjoy a free and unscheduled afternoon.
Activities: hiking, beach, wildlife watching, snorkeling.
Highlights: León dormido, Isla Lobos, Playa Ochoa.
We will take a small plane for a 45-minute flight to Isabela. Seeing the islands from the air is an experience in itself that saves energy and offers unique views. Upon arrival, the morning belongs to you. Isabela is an island that invites stillness and spontaneous discovery: you can walk the trails to the Flamingo Lagoon or enjoy the extensive main beach, located a few steps from your hotel.
In the afternoon, we will sail briefly to the Tintoreras islet, we will arrive at this sanctuary where life is astonishingly accessible. From the shore of a natural lava canal, you can observe whitetip reef sharks resting in transparent waters, while marine iguanas guard the rocks. We will finish with a snorkeling session, an authentic immersion in the biodiversity of Isabela.
Activities: hiking, airplane flight, beach, wildlife watching, snorkeling,
Highlights: Flamingo Lagoon, Isabela, Tintoreras islet
Today we move away from the coast to encounter the geological force that gave rise to everything. We will head to the upper part of the island to begin the road to the Sierra Negra Volcano, the second widest in the world.
Walking through this environment is taking a journey through the history of the Earth. As we move towards Volcán Chico, the landscape transforms into a lunar setting of petrified lava and fumaroles that reveal the vitality of the archipelago beneath our feet.
It is a trek that demands will, but whose reward is the magnitude of the volcanic landscape. It is a day of physical effort compensated by the satisfaction of having closely contemplated the magnitude of a unique scenario in the world.
Activities: hiking, observation of volcanic landscapes, trekking
Highlights: Sierra Negra Volcano, Chico Volcano
We will sail to Cabo Rosa, a place where lava and the ocean have sculpted natural labyrinths known as Los Túneles. It is probably the most beautiful snorkeling site on the islands due to its natural architecture. Between stone bridges and underwater caves, you can encounter turtles, rays, and the unique Galapagos penguins.
After a light lunch, we will sail to Santa Cruz to change scenery and prepare for the next stage of the trip.
Activities: hiking, snorkeling, observation of volcanic landscapes, observation of wildlife, trekking
Highlights: Isabela, Cabo Rosa, Los Túneles.
We start the day in the highlands of the island to observe the giant tortoises in their most natural state. Seeing them move with such calm is a reminder of the importance of respecting the rhythm of life. After lunch, we will walk along a path of endemic cacti towards Tortuga Bay. This beach, one of the most beautiful in the archipelago, is a sanctuary of white sand and silence, the perfect place to swim or simply be, surrounded by the natural presence of marine iguanas, finches, herons, and small sharks that often approach the shore.
Activities: hiking, observation of wildlife, beach, trekking
Highlights: Santa Cruz, Tortuga Bay
We will visit an uninhabited island (such as Santa Fe, Bartolomé, or Seymour Norte), where nature is preserved intact. These are spaces where the human presence is only transient and the fauna is shown with total freedom. It is the perfect opportunity for a last dip in the sea or a quiet walk.
Upon returning, you will have your last free night in Puerto Ayora. It is the ideal time to walk along the boardwalk, choose a local restaurant, or enjoy the breeze of the port on your last night in the archipelago.
Activities: hiking, observation of wildlife, beach, hiking.
Highlights: Santa Cruz, Santa Fe, Bartolomé, Seymour Norte
The trip concludes with an assisted transfer to Baltra Airport. We take care of the logistics of the Itabaca Channel and registration, ensuring that your last impression of the islands is as fluid and peaceful as the rest of your stay.
